I wasn't keeping track but I'd say it took me about seven hours to complete tasks 1 through 6. The first task was a cinch because I have used Microsoft Word consistently since elementary school. But I don't doubt there are still tools I don't even know of in Word. Then I encountered my first obstacle: Excel. I have never used Excel. I freaked out and asked a friend for guidance. But when I reviewed the "Total amount of awarded contracts" on my own later, I discovered that the F297 cell had summed everything (including the No's). I started the task from scratch since it would give me a chance to practice each step again anyways. I tried using the function =SUBTOTAL instead. Maybe there's an easier way to do this but I manually inputted all the numbers in a calculator to see if my =SUBTOTAL number matched up with a manual add-up. And it did!

For The PowerPoint task (third task) was fun! I am not as familiar with it as I am with Word but search engines were my friend. For example, I wanted to adjust the opacity of the slide's background image. One method I found was to Insert Shape and Fill with an Image/Pattern. I was stuck again at the fourth task--Databases. I decided to use Microsoft Access since it came with the Suite I already had. For this task, I printed and read the complementary module (it's helpful for me to actually have it in front of me). I reviewed the sections many times, and constantly referred to them while I went through each step in Task 4. Upon completion, I was a lot less alarmed, and proud of myself. Just needed to stay calm and give myself plenty of time and patience.

Task 5 was straight-forward and I followed the instructions in "myVPN Setup Documents" and "myVPN Setup for Windows". I have previous experience with HTML and CSS but I needed a refresher and used "Lissa Explains it All" and "W3Schools Online Web Tutorials" and "CSS Web Safe Font Combinations". I was bummed to be asked to pick specific fonts, colours, and sizes though. #comicsans

Although the Introduction to the course stated: "The estimated total duration of this test is five hours, but you can finish each task at your own pace and take all the time you consider you need," I felt scared when I hit the Excel task, but now I feel fine--I have plenty of time to get more familiar with Excel and Access.
